Dry Needling vs Acupuncture

acupuncture vs medical acupuncture

You might have heard about this term called “Dry Needling” – this often refers to dry needling acupuncture which some western medical doctors take a weekend course to offer acupuncture as a side treatment – other ways to say this is medical acupuncture.

Many have asked if there is a difference between this so called dry needling medical acupuncture and the normal acupuncture we hear about – well, of course there is – doctors take a weekend course and suddenly become acupuncturists, whilst students of eastern medicine takes 3-5 years to become fully qualified in understanding and practicing acupuncture.

So dry needling is a sub-sub section within acupuncture treatment – this is only one micro method of treatment in acupuncture, and its only used and effective for some treatments – this cannot replace entire acupuncture just because a western doctor practices it; but on a positive note, this is great news, that western and eastern sciences are now starting to join forces to create an even better medical system not only in the UK, but all over the world.
